ODDS: | Brewers by 4 goals |
OVER/UNDER: | 9.5 goals |
Ah, yet again we see the Whalers as the underdogs, and yet again I'm assuming it will be the same outcome. The Tale of the Whale will start out strong, probably take a 1-0 lead and carry a 2-1 lead into the second period. They'll keep it interesting with a score of 3-2 after 2 periods but then they'll disintegrate into little shards of broken ice, melting away into a pool of shame as they loose this one 7-3.
Despite splitting the season series 1-1 with the Brewers, they lost their last battle 6-3 and lost their last 6 before a 1-0 default victory over the Storm Kings who no-showed last week. The Brewers are an offensive powerhouse, and have scored at will with rookies Billy "The Kid" Fletcher, Brian "Generic" Smith & Brock "Butcher" Barton. Those 3 rookies, combined with the sniping of Garren "Stick Figure" Poirier, the re-addition of Christian "Hell Boy" Isaac & the remarkable rotundness of Danny "Chunk" Charette provides a formidable team.
The Whalers need to focus on their own end, protecting Kenny "Old As Dirt" Lallier, and save some energy for late game heroics. They need to work on a team game, set line duties such as a scoring line, checking line and a "just don't fuck up line". Lallier hasn't been the weakness, it's been their defensive zone coverage that is the weak link.
Brewers will get a slow start in this one, but power past the Whalers late in the 3rd, beaching the Whale 7-3.
WHALERS SHOCK THE WORLD!!!!!
It was a high & a low for the Whalers as they FINALLY played a complete game, but lost one of their leaders when Dave Fitts went down with a broken ankle late in the game after a scrum in front of his net took a couple of players to the ice and then referee Shawn "Tons of Fun" McDermott either accidentally fell on the pile or thought it was a big game of grab-ass and jumped on top. Either way, McDiesel was most likely the bone crushing catalyst that possibly ended Fittsy's hockey career.
LASTEST INFO: Fittsy has undergone one surgery and may need another one. There was hardware added to his ankle as well.
The first period was pretty boring as both teams were feeling each out, playing hard in their defensive zones & limiting turnovers. Both netminders were solid, with the Brewers requiring the service of Matty "The Spaz" Albertazzi & the Whalers resident netminder, Kenny "THE ROCK" Lallier defying gravity & age to make saves. The Whalers picked up a pair of penalties while the Brewers added one of their own.
END OF THE FIRST: ZEROS
The second period was a bit more of the first as there wasn't any scoring through the first 10 minutes until the Whaler's Chucky "Cheese" Gaede took a pass from Todd "Hard as Nails" Nallette and beat Albertazzi with 4:11 to play in the 2nd. It was around this time that tempers started to flair as every player on the Brewers bench was ready to "Choke the LIVING SHIT" out of Liam "The Shit Disturber" Oliver whose dirty and chippy play was starting to fray some nerves. It only took 34 seconds for the Whalers to pounce again, as their resident handicapped player, Joey "The Mute" Hayes lit up 'Tazzi from Sean "Santa" Clausen & "Slim" Jim LeClair. The Brewers finally broke through on Lallier who was OUTSTANDING in the 2nd period, when Christian "The Devil" Isaac hooked up....in a non sexual way.....with 1:31 to play in the 2nd.
END OF THE SECOND: Brewers 1, Whalers 2
The Whalers really started to put some pressure on the Brewers who looked shell shocked by the intensity the Whalers carried throughout the game. The Dave Fitts Incident happened with 11:16 to play in the game, when the puck was thrown into traffic at Lallier & the Brewer's Chris "Turtle" Johnson jammed the rebound into Lallier's pads.
ACCORDING TO CHRIS JOHNSON (Brewers):
"Then that little shit #7(Oliver) speared me in the chest, and I had had enough of his bullshit, so I 'nutted' him (put his stick up between his legs) to teach him a lesson. That is when someone punched me in the back of my head and 'Horse Collared" me. I was PISSED and turned around threw a punch and grabbed the guy and we both fell to the ice. Bodies were flying everywhere as the refs came in and I don't know what happened, but once I saw it was Fittsy I felt bad, because I really like Dave. Everything cleared out and Dave tried to get up, but his leg just gave out."
ACCORDING TO KIRT JOHNSON (Whalers):
"According to my sources Fittsy's in a cast and looking at surgery. Broken leg and dislocated ankle. I don't know how it started, but there was a tussle in the crease after the halfway point of the 3rd period, Fitts and Johnson swinging fists, then one of them got the other in a headlock and they toppled over with the refs on top, trying to break it up. I think Fittsy's leg got pinned underneath him, and when he tried to get up and skate away it gave out on him. It looked nice and ugly when the skate came off."
Very unfortunate, and after talking with CJ, I can vouch that he was genuinely distraught over the incident. Other than tempers flaring, I wouldn't say anyone was at fault, except for the Ref McDermott who's excessive body shape may have caused unnecessary harm. Both players were ejected for fighting & Fittsy went off to check out his dislocated ankle & broken leg......and the game carried on with the Whalers on fire over the incident. Their tenacious forechecking was wearing down the Brewers defense and "Santa" Clausen put the Whalers up 3-1 with the eventual game winner. Clausen's first goal of the season on LeClairs second assist of the night. Joey Hayes added his second of the night & 10th of the season at 7:15 again from LeClair to put the Whalers up 4-1. The Brewers weren't done fighting and even added a shorthanded goal by Jason Yehle but were quickly rebuttaled by a Whaler's Short Handed goal less than 2 minutes later when Liam Oliver closed out the scoring with 4:25 to play in the game. There was a matching call late in the game as the Brewers rage started to fill their hearts & Christian "The Devil" Isaac elbowed Jason "The Mosquito" Loomis for hooking him, sending them both to the box with 1:19 to play.

| COME ON WHALE! Jan 27th, 2009 03:06 PM
I'll be rootin tootin for the Whalers in this one, but I just don't think they have the BALLS to play 3 full periods. NO BALLS, do Whale's actually have balls? Not sure, but Sperm Whale's are full of juice. Well, how about some sperm whale juice in the 3rd period, I heard Casavant is gonna make it back tonight with a huge load of sperm whale juice just for the Whalers. habs101 , NH
