ODDS: | Brewers by 4 goals |
OVER/UNDER: | 8 goals |
This should be interesting. The Brewers(5-3) just got SMOKED by the lowly Tuckerians of Tuckerville.....11-3. It was a demoralizing loss to a good team. The Whalers played the Storm Kings tough to a 5-3 loss including an open netter. The Brewers have had some attendance issues but still have Billy "The Kid" Fletcher leading the league with 25 points & Petey "The Net Condom" Bartline playing solidly between the pipes.
The Tale of the Whale is an interesting one. Looking for a change, the smurfs....er....Maple Leafs, changed their team name to the Whalers. This was a very wise decision considering the excellent history of the Hartford Whalers who won so many titles & championships. Backed by Kenny "Le Petite Gran" Lallier who stopped 43 of 47 last week. Their team defense has a ton to be desired, and their play in their own zone is atrocious. Their offense is non-existent scoring a league worst 23 total goals in 8 games, but they still have found themselves raising their hands with 3 big wins......all over the top 3 teams in the league.
My prediction.......the Sperm Whales will blow their huge load around the 10 minute mark of the 2nd and probably down 2-1. The Brewers will then take advantage of the exhausted Whalers, doing it in their wide open back door, winning 6-2. Lallier will make between 35 and 40 saves again.
Walers vs. Brewers
Ahhhh, the Whalers......they are an enigma wrapped within a riddle inside a conundrum then eaten by a donkey and shat out. They tend to dominate games through the first 15-25 minutes and then utterly fall apart into an exhaustive pile of useless hockey meat. The Tale of the Whale is that they dominated the first 25 minutes of this game going up 3-1 before blowing their load out their whaler blow hole and giving up 5 goals in the last 20 minutes of play. Their forecheck is tenacious and they will out-hustle you until they have run their ship aground. Unfortunately, their ship won't sail for a full 45 minutes, and when it starts to fall apart, it does so in epic proportions. One of the finer points of this game lies in the fact it was a fast paced, physical & hard fought battle that resulted in zero penalties on the night.
The Brewers were looking(5-3) were looking to bounce back from a horrific 11-3 blowout at the hands of the lowly Tuckians, while the Whalers had just fought another tough 5-3 loss to the Storm Kings where they were up 1-0 after 1 period, then gave up 4 in the second period. They did regain some composure netting 2 in the 3rd before an empty netter closed out the game.
The Whalers jumped out in front just 3:20 in on a Scotty "The General" Leger goal from Liam Oliver "Twist" & Jimmy "Chocolate" LeClair. The Brewers tied it late in the first when Brian "Smitty" Smith turned Kirt "The Dirt" Johnson in the near corner, took the puck below the goal line before feathering a pass through a defender to Billy "The Kid" Fletcher. McCabe got his first of 4 points on the night with a pass to Smith on the breakout.
END OF THE FIRST: All even at 1 apiece
The Whalers tagged two in the first 5 minutes of play in the 2nd with an unassisted Liam "Munchkin" Oliver goal followed by a Nicky "Deck The" Hall goal from Davey "Sideways Look" Fitts. That was about as good as it was gonna get for the Whalers, who were high on their horses, but their bucking bronco Brewers were about to buck them right onto their exhausted asses with 3 goals in the last 5:15 to play in the period. Sean "The Ladies Man" McCabe potted his 2nd of the year from Chris "Turtle" Johnson followed by the human stick figure, Garren Poirier, under 2 minutes later. I'm still trying to get some details on this Brewers 4th goal of the night, but Old Man River, Alfonse "The Fonze" Sorrentino netted an UNASSISTED GOAL for his first of the year. I'll have more information on this goal shortly.
After two periods the Brewers had begun to flex their beer muscles, going from 2 goals down to a a nice 1 goal lead. They didn't stop there though and added another pair in the 3rd period when the giant Stick Figure scored his second of the night with 4:31. Fletcher added his 2nd of the night with only 10 seconds to go to put the game well out of reach.
