ODDS: | Storm Kings by 5 goals |
OVER/UNDER: | 13 goals |
WHO....
The Storm Kings host the Whalers.
WHAT....
What two teams will show up tonight? Will the Cardigan Short Bus show up with all of it's players? That is a HUGE factor in the outcome of this game. WHAT Whalers squad will show up tonight? The hard working, smart team that has won 3 games this year, or the bunch of misfits that got BLOWN out last week 10-1?
WHEN....uh and WHERE
At THE U, Union Arena Woodstock, VT 8:05pm
WHY....
Why should you watch this game? Because the Storm Kings are the most dynamic team in the UVHL, and score highlight reel goals. Another reason to tune in, would be that the Whalers LOVE to be Giant Killers, defying all odds & logic with wins over the Nordiques, Brewers & Whalers.
I'm giving this one to the Storm Kings, 9-4.
Whalers Play Kingers Tough, But Lose 4-3 Plus an Open Netter.
The Whalers were looking to erase the memory of the despicable 10-1 loss to the gamblers in the previous week while the Storm Kings were also looking to move past a tough loss. The Whalers continued their rollercoaster season with a solid effort in this 5-3 loss, including an empty netter with 18 seconds to play. Kenny "Le Stick Save" Lallier was OUTSTANDING in this one, turning away 43 of 47 shots, single handedly keeping his team in this one. Danny French "Bread" was where he needed to be when he needed to be there, turning away 19 of 23 on the night. The bottom line is, if Frenchy can hold the other team to under 5 goals, THE STORM KINGS WILL DELIVER GOALS. And they did, despite the short bench and missing their top 2 forwards, Robbie "The Price Is Right" Barker & Ryan "The Kitchen" Sinclair.
The Whalers actually struck first in this one when Chris "Googly" Gogan finished a Joey "The Mute" Hayes pass with 7:59 to play. That was actually the only notable in the first, no penalties & no scores from the Kingers. I guess the fact that Lallier turned away TWENTY shots is kind of a big deal though. "Kenny was amazing, two pad stacking, poke checking, glove saving, basket catching, name dropping & nipple twisting.
END OF THE FIRST: Whalers 1, Storm Kings 0
SAVES: Lallier(WHL) 20, French(STK) 8
The Storm Kings played their tune in the 2nd period, leading off with a "Whiny" Tim Leroy unassisted breakaway goal just over a minute in. Tommy "Guns" Scull put the Kingers up 4-1 with 10:31 to go from Marty "Gandalf The Grey" White. "Mean" Dean Cashman made it a 3 goal lead with 4 seconds to play from "Chop" Stuey Close & Leroy. The Maple Leafs took the first penalty of the game when Sean "Santa" Clausen took a hooking infraction with 4:40 to play in the period. Lallier saw a little less work in the 2nd period with 14 saves on 17 shots while the Frenchman turned away all 5 pitiful shots that he faced.
END OF THE SECOND: Whalers 1, Storm Kings 4
SAVES: Lallier(WHL) 34, French(STK) 13
The Tale of the Whale was about to Sail, and possibly send an Email with a picture of a Pale Pail filled with Hail & Snails to their best friends Gail & Dale. Ah, that was gay. Anyways, the Whalers blew the first two periods out their blow holes and played some solid hockey in the 3rd. Shutting down the Storm Kings to 9 shots on goal and an empty netter to seal the loss. They brought the game back from 4-1 to 4-3 witha pair of goals less than a minute apart at 11:18 & 10:35. The first came from Todd "The Rat" Nalette assisted by Ryan McHugo, quickly followed by a Nicky Hall tally from Laperle & Gogan. Lallier's work load fell again with only 9 shots to turn away and French was 6 of 8. Tommy Scull threw a temper tantrum after thinking he was tripped up and decided to do some rabbit punches to the back of a Whaler's player. The Whalers' Jimmy "Beanpole" LeClair took the Whaler's only penalty of the 3rd with a Roughing at 3:29, more or less dashing any hopes of tying the game up before Mikey "The Fuzz" Fitzgerald added the empty netter with 18 seconds left.

| ANOTHER fucking hilarious write-up! Dec 7th, 2008 04:03 PM
I LOVED the "nipple twisting" description, and the nicknames in the second period were PRICELESS! Three cheers for Park! Now I'll down another blue cheese shot... | | |
