Tuck takes the first seed in the playoffs with 4-2 win over Bruins.

Another game with playoff implications, yes all teams make the playoffs, but with a win tonight, Tuck would walk away with the number one seed in the playoffs. They are currently tied with the Storm Kings for the best record in the UVHL, sitting at 13-3-1, but Tuck is 2-0-1 against the Kingers this year. The Bruins on the other hand are dead-locked into a 5th place finish.....out of 6.

Tuck came into action this evening riding a 5 game win streak where they outscored their opponents 27-11, but the Bruins are coming off of an EMBARRASSING 11-3 loss to the Brewers last week. Having played some horrific defense, the B's were hoping to get back on track in the last week of the regular season.

It was a hard fought battle as the play was fast and clean and the refs kept their whistles in their pockets. The Bruins cleaned up their play, staying out of the box & focusing on their defensive play, but their biggest improvement started from their net where newly acquired BJ Premore was fantastic, turning away 34 and shutting down the Tuckies on at least 10 superb scoring chances despite taking the loss.

The Bruins took control of the game early as Matty Marrazzo bolted down the far boards off the initial faceoff and gained control in Tuck's end for what seemed like an eternity. It was great to see......but it didn't last as Tuck turned the tables and countered with their own puck control. The Bruins BJ "Stopper" Premore was spectacular early on, turning away 7 shots before Tuck's "I don't know this guys first name" Lindeman found the back of the net at 10:27 off of assists from Berner & Ryan "The Knee Breaker" McGovern. Tuck went up 2-0 under a minute and a half later on a Trevor Martin goal that I didn't see. I'm still waiting on video footage, but the UVHL players union is refusing to releas the contents of this game until their representative, Greg "W.A.G.H.I.P." Hadley receives 40 virgins and 3 shaved sheep. I knew he liked sheep.....but the virgins are new.

Jordan "What's the Defensive Zone?" McGee, on his 2nd breakaway in a minute, took a Hanbury turnover made the same forehand to backhand back to the forehand stuff move as the first attempt, but started it later and was able to find a little bit of extra room to scoop it over the outstretched pad of Fitzgerald for his 19th of the season.

Tuck went up 3-1 with 2:58 to play in the 2nd off of one of the prettiest saucer passes I've seen all year. Trever "The Martian" Martin took a pass from Ryan "Booger" Burkhart on the far boards . Martin feathered a perfect saucer pass through 3 Bruinss players, that spiraled perfectly about 4 feet in the air before landing right on the stick of Brian "Speedy Gonzalez" Flemming cutting to the slot. Fleming quickly tipped about 8 inches off hte ice, through the 5-hole of Premore.

END OF THE SECOND PERIOD: Tuck 3, Bruins 1
SAVES: Fitzgerald(Tuck) 12, Premore(Bruins) 22

The Bruins were battling, despite being doubled up in shots most of the game. Matty Marrazzo brought the B's back within one with 10:54 to play, easily skating around and down and out Fitzgerald and throwing the puck in for his 14th of the season. Tuck struck back exactly 3:30 later with the Bruins' Greg Hadley in the box for slashing. Brian Fleming found a rebound in front and jammed it in with assists going to Martin and McGovern. That was Flemings 2nd goal of the night and 7th on the season.

END OF REGULATION: Tuck 4, Bruins 2
SAVES: Fitzgerald(Tuck) 16, Premore(Bruins) 34
