ODDS: | Tuck by 3 goals |
OVER/UNDER: | 7.5 goals |
The Nordiques(9-6-0) host the Tuckies(11-3-1) in week 16. The Nordiques, coming off of an embarrassing 8-5 loss to the Bruins, are hoping to get back on track against a TOUGH Tuck squad. Tuck, has re-emerged as the top gun ol the UVHL with a huge 3-1 win over the previous league leading Storm Kings squad.
Tuck was outstanding in all 3 zones, as they dominated a Barker-less Kingers team. This should be a low scoring game, as the top two netminders, Johnny "Anger Management" Turner & Ryan "Kick Save" FItzgerald, face off in a crucial game heading into the playoffs. The Nordiques can keep this game close by staying out of the penalty box and eliminating Tuck's DEVASTATING power play from the equation. The only other hope the Nords have is if they can get some scoring out of their 2nd & third lines, specifically Greg "Mushy" Marsh & Mikey "Le Menage-a- Trois" O'Neil.
Tuck needs the continued success of veterans Scotty Turco & Peter Hanbury. Hanbury has been excellent both on forward as well as defense, scoring critical goals while helping to anchor an extremely strong defensive corp.
My prediction, Tuck 5, Nordiques 2.
Tuck peppers the Nord's Turner with 56 shots in 6-3 win.
The Nordiques(9-6-0) host the Tuckies(11-3-1) in game 1 of week 16. The Nordiques, coming off of an embarrassing 8-5 loss to the Bruins, were hoping to get back on track against a TOUGH Tuck squad. Tuck, has re-emerged as the top gun ol the UVHL with a huge 3-1 win over the previous league leading Storm Kings squad.
Tuck came to play and immediately took advantage of the short bench the Nordiques were carrying. They started out by peppering Johnny "Bullet Proof Vest" Turner with 3 shots before Brian "The Ferret" Fleming beat Turner with a quick flip shot into the top shelf, blocker side only 40 seconds in. It wasn't looking good for the Nordiques early, and Tuck continued to toy with them over the next couple of minutes. Roger "The Drill" Phillips took a pass from Ian "Smooth as Fur" Coates and scored coming out of the corner on a backhander through the 5-hole at 9:38 to tie the game up on just the 2nd shot of the game for the Nords.. Trevor "The Maniac" Martin put Tuck up 2-1 with 7:18 to go on a sweet pass from Scotty "Hang-time" Turco. Michelle "La Babe" Labbe put Tuck up by 2 with only 52 seconds on the clock as a rebound off her wrister glanced off of a Nords player and found the back of the net.
END OF THE FIRST: Nordiques 1, Tuck 3
SAVES: Turner(Nords) 15, Fitzgerald(Tuck) 7
The Nordiques had an inspiring talk in betweew periods from captain Tao "Love the Puck" Smith and becgan the 2nd period on a mission to protect their netminder. Smith even inspired himselfso much as to score a goal with 9:10 left in the 2nd when he took a pass from Coates who curled at the blue line, made a move to his back hand only to throw it into Fitzgerald. Smith grabbed the rebound, threw it back into Fitzgerald before grabbing the last rebound and tucking it in past the Tuckie. Danny "Munchkin" Jones tied the game up on another great individual play, this time by The Dentist. Phillips broke into the zone on the far boards and was immediately pressured by an aggressive Ryan "The Knee Breaker" McGovern. Phillips threw a NASTY spin-o-rama on McGovern and then feathered a beautiful pass through the other defenseman to a streaking "Munchkin". Jonesy was in all alone and beat Fitzgerald under the arm, blocker side. The Nordiques were starting to show their age and the effects of the short bench( only two subs) as Tuck started to dominate all three zones. Ryan "The Burbs" Burkhart put Tuck up 4-3 with just 1:32 remaining on a play an ESPN highlight type of play. Burkhart entered the zone shorthanded 3 on 5, flipped the puck up over O'Neil's head and gathered it on the other side before doing a triple spin-o-rama around 6 or 7 of the Nordiques players. Burkhart then took the puck around the back of the net, flipped it over the top of the net, skated to the front and batted it in out of mid air. AMAZING. Ok, I missed the goal, but I'm sure it was THAT good. Actually, Turner said he ripped a backhander high blocker after taking a defenseman wide.
END OF THE 2ND: Nordiques 3, Tuck 4
SAVES: Turner(Nords) 34, Fitzgerald(Tuck) 14
The Tuckeroonies went up by 2 just two minutes into the 3rd on Fleming's 2nd goal of the night and his 5th of the season on a wrap around to his forehand off the paddle of Turner's downed stick and up through the five-hole and in. Tuck got the final goal of the night on a Petey "The Hands" goal. Petey broke into the zone split the defense, made a quick move across the net to his backhand and dished the saucer back through the 5-hole of Turner. The Ref, Laperle proclaimed the moves by Hanbury as possessing "Nastiness", and I must agree. Tuck continued to pound away for the remaining 11:33 of the period, but the Nordiques stood tall and strong and continued to break down chances while Turner was spectacular. Mikey O'Neil saved a goal with just under a minute remaining when he batted a puck out of the air that was heading into the net and in the meantime becoming Turner's best friend.
END OF REGULATION: Nordiques, 3, Tuck 6
SAVES: Turner(Nords) 50, Fitzgerald(Tuck) 18
I'd also like to point out that Scotty Turco did walk through the rink to the showers in a full length white robe that was very reminiscent of a woman's robe from some high classed hotel.

Alright Nords, put your game faces on and make this a good game. Especially after thoroughly being embarrassed by the Bruins last week. The Dark Canuck Fairlee, VT

Well, Marshy!!! Did you not watch that game last week against the LOWLY Bruins? Where you guys let up 8 frickin' goals? Letting the LAST placed team in the league beat you down like a bunch of mutts?
Yes, I did predict our team to lose by 3. Hopefully that's a motivator!
