ODDS: | Nordiques by 2 goals |
OVER/UNDER: | 6.5 goals |
The Nordiques have been thriving over the past two games with huge wins over the Brewers & Leafs. It doesn't seem that the loss of defenseman Kelly Park, torn ACL, has affected their play at all over the past two weeks, and their goaltending & defense has never been better. The Nords have allowed only 2 goals against in their past 2 games.
The Bruins have been slip, slidin' away behind the sub-par goaltending of Gregory Hadley. Hads thought he could be the savior of a franchise that is on the brink of collapse, but has garnered an 0-3 record since the break with just under 7.0 goals against per game. The Bruins need to focus on the team aspect of the game, button down their defensive zone and help out their netminders before they will EVER be successful.
I'm going to give this one to the Nordiques, with a close 4-2 win.
The Bruins' Johnny McGee dismantles Nords for 5 goals, 2 assists in 8-5 win
The last place Bruins (3-11-0) hosted the 3rd place Nordiques (9-5-0) for the 2nd game of the night. The Bruins who were coming into tonight's action as losers of their last 7 were hoping to turn things around against a somewhat inconsistent Nordiques squad. The Bruins would be without recently acquired netminder, Greg "The Infected One" Hadley as he was in Las Vegas, compiling a list of the region's top gentlemens clubs. The Bruins were also playing with a short bench, with only 2 subs, which could be the demise against a hard working Nordiques squad. The Nordiques, riding back to back wins over the Leafs & Brewers were just hoping to stay on their winning ways.
Jordan "McLovin'" McGee put the Bruins up 1-0 just over a minute into the game as he took the Nord's Katie Manny wide, cut across the crease and beat Turner 5-hole along the ice. The Nordiques tied it up with 11:06 when Adrien "The Mullet" Melrose took a pass in front of the net from Mikey "The Ferret" O'Neil, pulled it to his forehand and beat a downed Premore with a quick snapper over his glove.
The Nordique's Ian "Snaggletoothed Golden Boy" knotted a pair of garbage goals just 43 seconds apart to put the Nordiques up 3-1 with 1:45 to play. Mikey O'Neil assisted on all 3 Nordiques goals in the first period as the Nordiques doubled the Bruins up on shots and carried play for all but the first 2 minutes of the game.
END OF THE FIRST: Bruins 1, Nordiques 3
SHOTS: Bruins 8, Nordiques 16
The 2nd period started off with some sloppy play, mostly in and around the neutral zone. The Bruin's short bench seemed to already being having a negative affect on their lungs & legs. The little Sprite-like creature called David DesChamps put the Bruins back within one as he took blistering slapshot from the far faceoff dot, beating Turner off the near post and in, hight blocker side. I would like to point out that the stick that DesChamp's let that WICKED slapshot go with, used to be mine, but I snapped it in half 3 years ago. It was the proper height after breaking for a 7 year old, but Dave makes due with it. The Bruins seemed to get some energy back after that one, and started to lay some rubber into Turner, including a game tying goal at 10:16 from a very unlikely candidate when Jordan "McKnight" Mcgee found a sreaking "Muscles" Mikey Harrington streaking down the far side, Harrington let a quick wrister go past a partially sliding Johnny Turner, through the 5-HOLIO and into the net.
This may not mount to anything, but looking at Turner's body language he is starting to FUME, that his team is playiing so poorly infront of him, and this could surmount in a meltdown of EPIC proportions.........stay tuned. The Nordiques continued to falter and allowed yet another odd man rush with 7:30 remaining, and Matty Marrazzo was able to find Jordan McGee streaking down the near side all alone. McGee, with his stick to the center, had to make a perfect one-timer snap shot to put it past an outstretched Turner, just over the pad on his blocker side to put the Bruins up 4-3 and further infuriate an already irate Turner. The remainder of the period was a wash.
END OF THE SECOND: Bruins 4, Nordiques 3
SHOTS: Bruins 23, Nordiques 26
The Bruins struck first in the 3rd period just 1:28 in, when Jordan McGee got his 3rd of the night when he chipped in a rebound off of a Marrazzo shot. The Nordiques bounced back just 15 seconds later on a Roger "The Dirty Dentist" Phillips goal from Greg "Super-Sensitve Giant" Marsh. John Turner didn't have an answer for Jordan McGee as he owned him all night. McGee stripped Richie "Turnover" McKenna at center ice to go in on Turner all alone, where he finished with a wrister high glove for his 4th of the night. Mikey Marrazzo added to his good night as he took a defender wide, threw the puck to the front of the net , off of McKenna's skate and in to put the Bruin's up 7-4 with 11:50 remaining in the game.
McGee got his 5th of the night and 15th of the season when Marrazzo walked out of the corner and fed McGee on the far side of the slot for a quick one timer just over the pad, blocker side on Turner. The Nordiques were starting to make the Bruins look like superstars here, chasing them all over the ice and playing like this was a scrimmage. Roger Phillips got the Nords back within 3 for fis 9th of the season, on a nifty move in the high slot to the far post, and a quick backhander 5-Hole on Premore.
Johnny Turner did finally get a little bit of his dignity back on another breakaway by McGee with 1:25 remaining. McGee who was cherry picking took a nice pass from Scotty "Goontown" Fraser, walked in on Turner with all the time in the world and tried beating him with a quick move to his back hand, only to find a big blue goalie pad in his way. The last minute of play didn't result in much, except for a Fraser high stick to O'Neil's face, a ton of shame on the Nordiques box and Turner

| Kelly, this new format is bitchin'! Jan 29th, 2008 05:52 PM
Yah, Park! Nice job on the pre-game formats and logos! AWESOME! We really DO miss you out there, particularly in the shower room post-game (I've got this four foot square region on my back I can't get anymore full of blue cheese and buffalo sauce), but sometimes when a star player goes down in battle the pee-ons and pluggers pull it together and play a better team game. That is my theory, anyway, so don't rush back prematurely and let that knee heal, otherwise you'll be sittin' for Mud League, too, eh. |
