ODDS: | Brewers by 2 goals |
OVER/UNDER: | 8.5 goals |
The (6-6-2) Brewers host the league worst (3-10-1) Maple Leafs in the first tilt of week 14. The Brewers are coming off of back to back losses & are scoring only 2.667 goals per game over their last 6 games. The Maple Leafs are also coming off of back to back losses but have have the advantage by scoring over 3 goals per game in their last 6 games, and powered by a 7-2 win over the Tuckies.
The Brewers need to find the magic from the beginning of the season where they started the season 4-0-1 and averaging almost 5 goals per game. Bayley has been less than spectacular, blending into the crowd, seemingly too complacent and bored with hockey. Mike "Tyson" Hickey, the Brewers captain, has been trying to fire up his team with intensity and golden gloves, but to no avail.
The Maple Leafs should show a strong performance again as they are 2-0 against the LOWLY Brewers this season with a 2-2 shootout win in Week 5, and a 4-2 win in Week 10. They seem to have the Brewers number even especially anchored by the SPECTACULAR play of Kenny "Le Blocker" Lallier. The Leafs seem to be in great shape and have the potential to run teams into the ground by the 3rd period. They should register their 3rd win this year against the Brewers with a good TEAM game and great defense when the Bayley & Isaac line are on the ice.
I still have to give the nod to the Brewers, who I think could come out of their scoring slump any day now. I'm predicting a 5-3 win for the Brew Crew.
Brewers finally find some magic in 5-3 win over Leafs.
The first game of the night had the Brewers (6-6-2) playing host to the Maple Leafs(3-10-1). Both teams are coming off back to back losses and looking to get back into the win column. This was poised to be a goaltenders dual with Petey "The Giant Dweeb" Bartline facing off against the MVP candidate Kenny "The Mustache" Lallier, but the leafs were without Lallier, but had superstar backup BJ Premore manning the posts. With the Brewers only scoring a dismal 2.66 goals per game in their last 6, and the Leafs just over 3 goals per game, this game didn't have hopes of being a barn burner, and started out with the first 2 1/2 minutes being sloppy, choppy and ugly hockey. The first shot of the game wasn't recorded until 2:25 in on a dump in by the Brewers, and the two teams had only combined for 4 shots total by the half way mark.
Johnny "The Midget" Thomas put the Leafs on top 1-o with 6:10 remaining as he camped out on the near post and hammered in a PERFECT Joey "The Mute" Hayes cross from the far corner, through the crease. There was nothing that Bartleby could do about it. The two teams traded scoring chances with just under 4 minutes remaining when Christian "Tunnel Vision" Isaac toe-dragged through the defense only to have Premore throw a pad out on the deke, and the Leafs Johnny Thomas cut hard to the net, taking both Brewers Defenseman with him, which resulted in a loose puck in the slot, a quick snapshot by Joey Hayes walking into it, and a two pad stack by Bartline. The Maple Leafs actually carried the play for the remainder of the period, gaining a few more scoring chances with nothing to show.
END OF THE FIRST: Brewers 0, Maple Leafs 1
SHOTS: Brewers 8, Maple Leafs 12
The Drunken Brewers came out to play in the 2nd and completely controlling play for a 2 minute stretch with the Bayley ,Isaac, Sorrentino, Mullins & McCabe line making it look like they were on the power play.
Bayley tied the game up with 9:04 remaining when he took a pass at center ice, fielded the puck between his legs, lost it in the zone on a poke check, picked it up, lost it again on another poke check that popped the puck in the air, caught it coming across the top of the crease on his backhand, made a move to the far post and threw it back through the 5-HOLIO on Premore. Christian Isaac put the Brew Crew up just 16 seconds later as he was posting up on the near post. Dave "Mulligan" Mullins fed him from the far side of the high slot, Isaac faked a shot to the near post and brought the puck back to the front of the net and easily threw it by a downed Premore. The Maple Leafs responded at 6:55 when Todd Nallette jammed in his own rebound......on the 3rd attempt at jamming it in. If it was anyone else, who was taller than 3 foot 7 and weighed more than 45 lbs, they probably would have been able to jam that in on the first attempt. The remainder of the 2nd period was a wash, both teams skating hard with not much to show for it.
END OF THE SECOND: Brewers 2, Maple Leafs 2
SHOTS: Brewers 20, Maple Leafs 20
The Brewers came out flying again in the 3rd period, and dominating the Maple Leafs from the faceoff. Sean "Offensively Challenged" McCabe put the Brewers up 3-2 on a backhander from the slot on a broken play, assisted by Chris "Turtle" Johnson & Garren "The Lanky Lurker" Poirier. The Leafs tied it up under two minutes later at 11:28 with a wrister by "The Mute" Hayes from the right side of the slot, beating Bart-alien far side on the ice. The Brewer's Isaac jammed home a puck that trickled through Premore's legs on a Bayley shot from the far faceoff dot. Premore turned away another 3 or 4 quality chances before resident goon Brent Adams put the Brewers up 5-3 on a pass from Isaac & Mullins.
