Nordiques play smart defensive hockey, shut down the Brewers in 3-1 win.

In what could be classified as a make or break game for both teams, the 6-4-2 Brewers hosted the 7-5 Nordiques. Two evenly matched teams going head to head to for 3rd place in the league. The Nordiques were coming off of an embarrassing 12-4 dismantling at the hands of the Storm Kings, while the Brewers handily beat the Bruins 4-2m with both teams were trying to find their offensive groove.

The game started off with the Nordiques taking quick control of the play and firing 2 shots at Petey "The Peter Puller" Bartline before Bayley & the Brewers completely dominated for the next few minutes outshooting the Nords 6-0 in that time period. The Nords Johnny "Time is my enemy " Turner was magnificent in the first, shutting down 2 odd man rushes and a Chris "Speed Freak" Adams breakaway. Garren "Goonenator" Poirier took the only penalty of the first on a weak hook on Greg "OH COME ON!" Marsh who drew the call with a loud "OH COME ON!!!"

END OF THE FIRST: Brew Crew 0, Nordiques 0
SHOTS: Brewers 10, Nordiques 12

The Nordiques started the 2nd off with a 48 second powerplay which was controlled by Bayley in his own end. The Nordiques did finally break through on "The Peter Puller", 2:24 seconds into the period when Marsh jammed in a rebound off of an Ian "Snaggletoothed Wonder Boy" Coates shot from the point. Petey Bartline was great otherwise, shutting down a short breakaway by Tao "Smut King" Smith with 10:47 remaining, although Smith did just throw it right into his pads, but Barty "Made" him do that. The Nords did break through with 3:26 remaining when Adrien "The Mexican" Melrose fired a pass from the far boards to Roger "The Dirty Dentist" Phillips in the low slot. Phillips redirected the pass to Ian Coates on the near post who beat Barfline with a quick wrister under the glove arm. Bartline also got a little bit of help from the post on a Roger Phillips breakaway late in the 2nd period.

END OF THE SECOND: Nordiques 2, Brewers ZERO
SHOTS: Brewers 20, Nordiques 19

:The vBrewers came out flying in the 3rd with a nice tic-tac-toe play starting with Bayley in the corner. Bayley found Sean "Offensively Challenged" McCabe in the low slot, who made a quick pass through the defenseman to a waiting Isaac at the far post. Isaac pulled the puck to his forehand and threw it under a diving Turner from an impossible angle. The Brewers continued to dominate the short benched Nordiques over the next 4 minutes, holding them without a shot until the 8:41 mark. The Brewers continued their domination over the Nordiques for the remainder of the period as the hemmed the Nords into their zone on multiple occassions, but just couldn't seem to put one past John Turner who had probably his best game of the season. The Brew Crew decided to let Bartline go home for the last minute and drink himself into a stupor and play with 6 skaters, but Ian Coates ruined that idea with an empty netter with 15 seconds remaining to put the Brewers out of their scoring drought misery.

END OF REGULATION: Nordiques 3, Brewers 1
