ODDS: | Tuck by 4 goals |
OVER/UNDER: | 12.5 goals |
Hmmm, my prediction.....the Maple Leafs play hard, tire themselves out halfway through the game and then get Blownout by the speed and conditioning of Tuck in the 3rdp period.
Kenny will stand on his head again and make 45 saves, letting in 8 goals. Turco will have 6 points and Casavant will fall down 4.5 times.
Maple Leafs SHOCK the world, play perfect game in 7-2 win over Tuck.
Well, I was right about one thing.....the Maple Leafs played HARD for 2 solid periods, but I was wrong about the prediction that they would falter in the 3rd period and collapse into a dismal ball of untalented hockey mush. In all reality, the Leafs were great in all 3 zones, on every inch of the ice. They took the lead, added to it and then put on cruise control and protected it. Kenny Lallier is a stud and is improving his game like a fine wine. For such an old man with a porn star mustache, he really has emerged as one of the top goaltenders in the area.
The Leafs came out flying in the first and capitalized on a Peter "Handkerchief" Hanbury turnover behind the net. Sean "Little chubby smurf, rotund blueberry" Casavant picked off a pass and fired a no-look, horseshoe up his ass, lucky backhand pass to Johny "Twinkle Toes" Thomas in the low slot, who in turn beat Ryan "Foghorn Leghorn" Fitazgerald 5-holio on the FIRST shot of the game for the Leafs. The two teams played a chess match for the next 10 minutes with nothing much to report until Josh "Spicoli" Hardy took a perfect backhander flip pass to send him all alone. Hardy closed his eyes and fired at Fitzgerald, luckily beating him far post on the ice with 1:46 remaining in the period.
END OF THE FIRST: Maple Leafs 2, Tuck 0
SHOTS: Maple Leafs 6, Tuck 8
The Leafs jumped out to 3-0 lead just 42 seconds into the 2nd when Todd "Nifty" Nallette made some NASTY moves, including a backhand toe drag around Peter Hanbury to get to the front of the net. Fitzgerald dove out of the net trying to break up the play, but Nallette showed his patience, pulled the puck around him and deposited the puck into the open net. Joey "The Mute" Hayes put the Leafs up by a WHOPPING 4 goals with 8:56 remaining after taking a lucky lucky pass from Casavant that was accidentally feathered through the defenseman, then Hayes beat Fitzgerald with a high backhander. Dougie "The Hamburgler" Heavisides finished an Eric "Gargantuan" Gattie rebound from a skinny angle to put the Leafs up an AMAZING 5 goals, marking the first time all season that they had scored more than 4 goals and only the third time in 12 games that they scored more than 3 goals.
Tuck finally broke through on Kenny "The Natural" Lallier with 5:25 remaining when Brian "The Futon" Fleming beat Lallier with a perfectly placed wrist shot from 30 feet out to "CUT" the lead to 5-1. The Leafs bounced back just over a minute later when Jason "Lickity Splitz" Loomis beat a frustrated Fitzgerald with a low backhander along the ice. Fitzgerald seemed a bit off, possibly being attributed to the new gloves he was wearing, partying too much after finals, too much food during the holidays or possibly the unorthodox style of play, specifically the unorthodox shooting styles, of the Maple Leafs squad.
Scotty Turco finally broke out of his post eggnog haze with a sweet goal with 53 seconds remaining in the 2nd to bring his team back within 4 goals.
END OF THE SECOND: Maple Leafs 6, Tuck 2
SHOTS: Maple Leafs 13, Tuck 14
The 3rd period can be summed up by the Maple Leafs sitting back and protecting their lead, and Tuck doing everything they could to beat Kenny Lallier. Lallier was great, as his team was outshot 16 to 3 in the last frame, but only Johnny Thomas was able to capitalize in the period as he took a perfect pass from Liam "Friggin" Fracht-Monroe as he was cherry picking at Tuck's blue line. Thomas beat Fitzgerald with a quick couple of moves and then to went to the backhand for the goal.
