Bruins net 7 in the 2nd period in a 9-3 win over the Leafs.

The Maple Leafs hosted the Bruins for the first game of week 6. The Maple Leafs (1-3-1) were coming off of a devastating loss to the Brewers where they outshot them 56-29 and had a 2-0 lead in their 3-2 loss. The Bruins (1-4-0) were coming off of a 5-4 loss the Nordiques, but were down 3-0 early and outplayed the Nords the 2nd & 3rd period. No longer the battle of the basement, more like the battle of the garage dwellers!!!! End of the first, 1-0 Bruins.....NO PENALTIES!!!!

The Bruins came out firing and clearly outplayed the Leafs for the entire first period, accumulating 15 of their 34 shots in that one period. Matty Marrazzo had the only goal of the period, exactly 2 minutes in, when he took a nice pass from Greg "INFECTED BITS & PIECES" Hadley and dribbled a shot 5-HOLE on Kenny "La La La La La FIVE HOLIO" Lallier. Marrazzo also started off the 2nd period by knocking in his own rebound just 48 seconds in. Johnny McGee put the Bruins up 3-0 less than a minute later with a nice low blast from the point. The Maple Leafs finally got on the board with 10:52 remaining in the 2nd when Dave "Knockin' Da Boots" Bouthillier sent a rocket flying from the point that John "Tons of Fun" Chamberlain couldn't keep under control and Chris Gogan tapped in.

Danny "The Chain-Smokin' Cherry Picker" Clabough put the Bruins up by 3 on his first goal of the season when he took a sweet pass out of the corner from Stevie "Geebies" Geiger. Clabough netted his second goal of the shift / season just 50 seconds later when Marrazzo carried the puck into the zone, cut across the high crease unattested and fired a shot low. Clabough somehow batted the rebound in from behind the goal line. The Bruins went up by 5 goals with 7:35 remaining when Hadley took an ill advised shot from the corner. Donny "Austin" Powers got the rebound, fought off two leafs defenders and fired a shot off of Kenny's chest that landed right on the stick of Mike "The Brute" Harrington. John McGee got his 2nd of the period as he took a pass up the left boards, cut to the slot on his forehand and beat Chambo blocker side using the defenseman as a screen.

Josh "Hockey Hair" Hardy cut the lead back to 5 goals with 3:18 remaining in the period when John "Short Stuff" Thomas got a nice breakout pass from Chuck Gaede. Thomas beat Harringto at the red line and took a perfect low wrist shot blocker side taht rebounded right on the stick of Hardy. The Bruins couldn't weren't happy with their 5 goal lead and decided to add another one before the 2nd ended. John McGee, who is starting to look like a solid acquisition for the B's, flipped the puck out of his zone to a streaking Geiger who broke in all alone on La Lallier and beat him blocker side.

The Maple Leafs started turning up the heat in the 3rd and accumulated 20 of their 40 shots on weak Junior Varsity......Maybe bantam level shots that Chambo easily turned away. Well, that is except for the one that Chuck Gaede scored just 33 seconds into the 3rd on a nice pass from Doug Heavisides who just ended his holdout and resigned with the Maple Leafs to a staggering 25 year contract. The two teams battled for the rest of the 3rd, never really being able to get quality scoring chances until Clabough chipped in a rebound off of Lallier's blocker after Marrazzo walked a Leaf defenseman and fired a shot high and hard.
