Tuck spanks Bruins with only 7 skaters (and a girl!) on Feb 13th:
Thank goodness for goalies who LOVE hockey! This game would have been a frickin' disaster if Ken Lallier and JT did not decide to do double duty in net, because both Anik Cote and Greg Hadley were unavailable for their teams in the late game tonight. A 6-on-6 game does not hold much appeal to anyone, so the goalies saved the day! Thanks goalies!
The first period was evenly played, and there wasn't any action on the scoresheet until the final 2:40, and then a scorefest erupted!!! Tuck F Peter Hanbury netted the first of the game from Alek Roomet at 2:40, and then Bruins F Derek DeYoung answered right away at 2:21 from Steve Geiger to tie it at 1 aside. Tuck exploded for 3 goals in 1:23 starting with Brian Fleming at 1:49 from Trevor Martin and Pat Fox; followed by Martin from Roomet at 0:59; and then Hanbury from Martin and Greenthal at 0:26, and suddenly it was 4-1 Tuck in less than 2 minutes!!! What action!
Bruins F Dan Clabough started the scoring in the second at 12:40 with help from DeYoung to make it 4-2 Tuck. Martin went for tripping at 11:33, and then scored soon after he got out of the box at 8:57 from Hanbury and Sarah Carpenter. Roomet then took his turn in the box for tripping, and the B's used the PP momentum to score at 6:03 on a Matt Marrazzo goal directly from DeYoung. Hanbury made it 6-3 for Tuck with his unassisted goal at 2:52.
In the third Roomet got a goal for the Tuck blueliners with an unassisted effort at 13:16. Martin went for cross-checking at 8:44, and then got out of the box again and scored at 5:59 from Greenthal and Hanbury (note to opponents, don't piss off Martin because he'll come out of the box and score!). Bruins D Mike Harrington got sent for cross-checking at 4:46, but Martin ruined the Tuck PP with an interference call at 4:24, but he didn't jump out of the box and score this time. Bruins D Scott "Secret Weapon" Fraser, last week's almost unanimous UVHL Player of the Week, scored with 1:30 left from none other than DeYoung (are you keeping track of this?) to continue his hot streak!
