Bruins-Leafs barnburner on Feb 7th!

A light Leafs line-up faced off against a re-tooled Bruins squad and it was anyone's game right into the last two minutes. Bruins captain and goaltender Greg Hadley made a guest appearance on the blueline as usual forward Mark Weglarz filled the pipes yet again in the Bruins net to give Hadley a break. Matt Marrazzo started it off right for the Bruins only 56 seconds into the game set up by Andy Holland. The Leafs answered at 12:41 with a goal from Kevin Louzier after connecting with his centerman Doug Heavisides. Chris Gogan was called for tripping at 7:05, but the Leafs held them off, and then Gogan scored at 3:58 to put the Leafs ahead assisted by Justin Wing and Dave Riley. B's D Erik Pearse was called for holding at 3:31, but the Leafs could not capitalize. Heavisides made it 3-1 for the Leafs at 1:12 from Louzier and Wing only to have the Bruins answer at 0:31 on a Ryan Sinclair goal assisted by none other than Greg "Twisted Steel" Hadley. Sinclair started the second with a shorty from Holland at 12:07 while teammate Seth Warren was in the box for slashing. Tony DeFelice put the Bruins ahead with an unassisted goal at 9:56. While Marrazzo was in the box for holding the Bruins scored another shorty at 8:19, this time by Warren and Holland on the assist with his third of the game to make it 5-3. Kyle Manny scored for the Leafs at 8:07 from Jason Loomis only to be followed by another Bruins shorty by Sinclair at 6:51 while captain Hadley was in the box for high sticking. Almost six minutes of scoreless hockey ensued (although there were several penalties in between - Warren for tripping; Powers for holding; Davis for high sticking; Jessiman for tripping) until there was a flurry of activity at 4-on-4 near the end of the second period with both teams scoring in the final minute, first the Leafs on another Heavisides goal from Wing earning his third assist at 0:56, and then the B's Marrazzo at 0:39 from Pearse to end the second frame 7-5 B's. Justin Wing added a goal to his three assists to bring the Leafs within one at 11:34 of the third from Heavisides and Fitts. Marrazzo scored his third from Sinclair and Holland adding to their point totals at 6:28 during offsetting minors to Davis and DeFelice at 7:39. Hadley got his second high sticking penalty at 4:28 and Heavisides made him pay with an unassisted goal 30 seconds into the PP. Sinclair was called for hooking at 3:58 (the same time as H's goal?) and then Justin Wing tied the game at 8-8 on the PP from Louzier and Leaf captain Sean Casavant at 3:32. The play of the game came in the last two minutes after the B's Andy Holland kept the puck in the Leafs zone at the right point after the Leafs could not clear the puck out, and shifty Dave DeSchamp came down the right wing and eluded some Leaf checkers to make a fantastic pass across the slot to a streaking Don Powers who buried the game winner past an acrobatic and outstretched Ken Lallier in the Leaf net with 1:40 to go in the game. The fans had hoped for a shootout, but Powers denied them, and then Sinclair caught the Leafs on their heels and took away any chance of an extra frame or single point doing the opposite of his Storm Kings opener winning the face off and going in on the opposing goal, scoring, and actually getting credit for this goal at 1:25 to end it 10-8 Bruins.
