Leafs play full 60 min and roll over Avalanche in 6-1 win
Even scoring throughout the game and a solid effort by the 2-3-4 punch of Heavisides-Nalette-Louzier and spectacular effort by guest goalie Jake Obar in the Leafs net (about frickin' time making your UVHL debut Obar!) left no room for the Avs to mount a comeback. However, the penalty sheet was more full than the scorebox and the Avs won that contest 9-7, not including a game misconduct (and I'm not listing all the frickin' penalties, either!). Kevin Louzier made his Season 3 return to the UVHL and was reunited with his Hartford Hurricane linemate Todd Nalette and former coach Doug Heavisides. This was the best line in the league over the last 2 seasons until the Storm Kings created the Sinclair-Coakley-Cashman juggernaut, and their magic dominated this game and proved that Louzier wasn't rusty from only playing in the occasional Sunday night skate. Louzier scored at 9:48 of the first on the PP from Nalette and Heavisides. Then, late in the period, the Hartford line made it 2-0 with 39 seconds to go, this time centerman Heavisedes from his wingers Nalette and Louzier. The Avs answered with their best skaters present that night on a goal from Marcus Ericsson assisted by Chris Johnson at 12:57 of the second. Kyle Manny made it 3-1 in favor of the Leafs at 4:51 from Fred Redden. The Blue Hurricane struck again at 3:40 on Louzier's third point and second goal of the game, Nalette's third first assist, and Heavisides' second second assist (got all that?). In the third Kyle Manny set up linemate Jason Loomis for a goal at 9:21. The scoring was finished on the Leafs PP when Fred Redden converted passes from Heavisides and Nalette at 5:10.
