Another overtime victory for the Avs.
Parody in the league as another night in the UVHL sees every game decided by the margin of one goal. The Avalanche and the Bruins have had now three overtime battles. The Avs have topped the Bruins in the overtime shootout in each of them. Tonight was no exception as the two evenly matched teams traded goals and ended up tied after each of the games three periods. The story of the night was the cameo appearance of sometime goalie Mark Weglarz. It is always interesting and entertaining when an in experienced goalie steps between the pipe. Weglarz is beginning to look the part and playing as well as a seasoned veteran. Weglarz earned his team a tie at the end of regulation. If it were not for an overtime shootout shutout from Beraldi. Weglarz may have gained the W. Tony Defelice started the night off with two unanswered goals one at 12:08 from Marazzo and Holland and the second at 2:52 from Dechamps and Jay Smith. The Marcus Eriksson and Jami James tandem was rolling as the traded goals and helpers to knot the game at 2. Another duo of linemates connected as Steve Geiger and Ryan Sinclair each had a goal and an assist. Sandwiched in between was a beauty from Eriksson as he roofed a James feed at 11:13 of the second. The period ended tied at four as Aaron Guyette beat Weglarz with 3:41 remaining. The Bruins regained the lead when Rob Pelletier scored on a Alec Jessiman rebound at 8:07. Fred McNutt spoiled the Weglarz 2005 debut by extending the game to ovetime with a goal with only 4:10 remaining from Mike Hickey. The ovetime went as scripted. Another shoot out win for Avs goalie Jim Beraldi. The former UVM goalie was again solid between the pipes.
