Bruins end winless skid over Leafs 7-4

The Bruins scored 6 unanswered goals to ensure victory over the improving Leafs. Both teams had full benches and were ready to play, the Leafs looking to avenge the loss of the extra point against the Bad News Bruins in their last match-up that went to OT. The Leafs have rallied around new Captain Sean Casavant, a hardworking defenseman who plays with heart and passion, and has a great desire to compete and inspires his teammates with both his play and heartfelt speeches. Doug Heavisides scored early for the Leafs at 14:39 from Jay Campion only to have the momentum quelled by Bruins D Scott Fraser at 14:00 from Ryan Sinclair. A Leaf player after the game said that it seemed Sinclair was on the ice for every Bruins goal, and that analysis was deftly accurate as Sinclair had a 7 point night in a guest appearance for his Bruins (his rostered team) jumping up in the official UVHL scoring race with some points that actually count. Sinclair garnered another assist at 10:29 setting up Tony DeFelice and then scored an unassisted goal at 10:03 to make it 3-1 Bruins. Sinclair continued his first period tear scoring at 6:30 from Rob Pelletier and Tony DeFelice making it 4 unanswered goals to end the first period which saw no penalties called. In the second the Bruins added to their lead with Pelletier's second point of the night on his goal at 11:20 from Alec Jessiman and Sinclair. Sinclair got his sixth point and completed the Hat Trick at 6:48 with assists going to defensemen Jay Smith and Erik Pearse. Fiery Fred Redden scored an unassisted goal of his own for the Leafs at 3:38 to end the Bruins 6 goal streak. offsetting double minors were doled out to Bruins winger Dave DeSchamp and the Leafs' Chris Nichols for bodychecking and roughing to DeSchamp and for hooking and roughing to Nichols at 2:46 of the second, and both sat in the box. Big Bruins D Alec Jessiman gave the Leafs a PP at 1:42 for tripping but the Leafs did not score with the man advantage. The Leafs managed two in a row with a goal at 10:31 of the third by Chris Gogan with some help from solid D Kirt Johnson. Sinclair made his night complete with a scorer's tally of 4 goals and 3 assists with his final point, another unassisted goal, with 5:48 left to play. Pearse got an elbowing call at 4:25 but the Bruins killed it off, but could not stop Chris Nichols from scoring another unassisted goal for the Leafs on the PP at 1:14 with Don Powers in the Bruins penalty box for slashing.
