Rangers come together to beat the B's 5-4
The Rangers brought their game to the peak level reminiscent of the 2004 UVHL playoffs. "They played great in front of me... I only had to worry about making the first save", said Turner. Kelly Park had a "coming out party" of sorts last night as he started the scoring with one of his four goals. Park buried an excellent feed from Greg Marsh under Greg Hadley at the 13:11 mark of the first. The Bruins pressed with excellent chances until the high flying Ryan Sinclair roofed a wrister from Andy Holland at 4:50. Park went to Hadley's five-hole again for his second from Tao Smith and Tom Dakai with little over a minute remaining in the period. Sinclair and former Boston Bruin, Jeff Norton combined on a pretty passing play to beat Turner at 13:53. Norton carried the play from his own zone hitting the streaking Sinclair just as he gained the zone. Sinclair fired a hard pass/shot right on Norton's tape for the back-door tally. The Rangers never quit as they controlled the puck in the Bruins zone. Dakai hit Smith down low who decided to go back to the point to Park who found the net at 9:52. Sinclair came right back on another 2 on 1 with Norton. This time he came in tight on Turner who made the save behind the goal line for his second goal of the night. Park tallied his 4th goal at 5:14 giving the Rangers the 4-3 lead. A lead which they would carry until the 2:52 mark of the third period. Turner held strong until Norton one-timed an errant clearing pass to knot the game at 4-4. It looked like another UVHL shootout until Ranger captain, Tao Smith cashed in on a breakaway to steal the win.
