Gamblers Secure 2nd Seed with Win over Lumberjacks

With the last game of the regular season, the Gamblers had high hopes of locking up the 2nd seed for the playoffs with a win.  Their opponents, the pesky Lumberjacks had other plans.   It was a fast game with playoff intensity for most of the first two periods.  The score sat tied at 3 apiece with 5 minutes to play in the 2nd period before the Lumberjack's Jay "The Zamboni" Zanleoni had an epic brain fart and tried going D to D on his backhand, only for the Gambler's Ryan "Pickpocket" LaCroix to pick the pass and break in all alone on the Lumberjack's goaltedner, going bar-dizzle on Ryan "The Libido" Libbey for the go-ahead goal and eventual game winner.  Zanleoni shattered his stick across the crossbar in disgust...."F'ing Libbey should have made that save.  He sucks.  B-League goalie at best."  Recalled Zanleoni after the game, right before using that shattered stick to stab a reporter who asked him about the turnover.

LaCroix was a stud in this game, not only with the huge goal, but also adding a pair of helpers.  On defense, the Gambler's Sean "Copland" Collins was the star of the game with stellar shutdown defense but also potting a goal and adding a pair of helpers as well.  Their goaltender Luke "The Nuke" McCormick was outstanding again, stopping 30 of 33 shots en route to the win.  

The Lumberjacks pressed late in the game, but couldn't even pull their goaltender to try and tie things up.  Jordy "McBreakaway" McGee did Jordy-McGee-ian type things again, but man does he suck on breakaways.  I think he might be 1 for 97 this season.  McGee did pot a breakaway goal tonight and an assist in the loss.  His fellow potato-loving Irishman Patrick "McRib" McDonough also had a goal and assist in the losing effort.

Unfortunately we won't see a rematch of this game in the first round of the playoffs, but if all goes well, we could see them play each other in the finals.

GAME NOTE: The Gambler's Zach "The Tinder Tickler" Aher really struggled holding onto his stick, dropping it at least 5 times in this match.  His team mates said that he may have carpal tunnel due to excessive swiping, and too much lubricant on his gloves from being too picky.
