In the second game of the night we have the newest team Labatt Blues hosting the runner-up"s from last year, the Lumberjacks. The Lumberjacks return the same roster as last year but with one new forward (Will Olmstead) and a new goaltender, Chris Pelkey. Labatt Blues returns a majority of its players from last year but they have a handful of new faces (Mike Anderson, Brian Smith, and Tyler White) and they also have a new goalie (Jay Seals). Both teams came out very cautiously trying to feel one another other out. The Lumberjacks who are a very good team when they can stay out of the penalty box, seemed to have missed the box all summer as they started the first period off with three straight penalties at 13:44, 10:11, and 8:01. Luckily for the Jacks, there new goalie Chris Pelkey was up to the task as he bailed them out numerous times on the PK. Once the Jacks killed of all three of the first period penalties they were able to start getting some pressure on the Blues but the first period would come to end with both teams tied at zero. It should be noted that the Jacks Chirs Pelkey finished the first period with 20 saves and Blues new goal finished with 9.

In the second period the Blues started to pick up their play and take it to the Jacks, at the 13:05 mark the Blues were able to break the tie as Keith "Bubba" Lazarczyk was able to beat Pelkey with knuckle puck type shot. The Blues weren"t done there though, they kept the pressure on and they were able to open up their lead to two at 10:55 mark when Tyler White was able to put the puck past Pelkey to make it 2-0 Blues. The Jacks weren"t happy with this call as the puck did go in off of White"s skates but it wasn"t a kicking motion and Toronto declared it a "good goal". Although the Jacks were down 2-0 they kept playing hard and testing Blues goalie Jay Seals, Seals saw a lot more rubber this period then he did in the first and he was able to keep his team in the game. With 6:25 left in the period the Jacks took their fouth penalty of the night, but just like the first three they were able to kill it off. Although the Blues didn"t score on the power play they were able to score two quick goals, the first one was at 3:54 by Justin Lawrence and another at 3:30 from Jason Mikula. Mikula"s goal was a pretty backdoor goal as he was set up with a perfect pass from Tim Barrett as Pelkey didn"t even stand a chance to stopping it. With the Blues up 4-0 they seemed to be cruising but they took at late penalty in the period with just 19 seconds left. This allowed the Jacks to come out into the third with a power play.

In the start of the third period the Jacks threw everything they had at the Blues and Seals but they couldn"t capitalize on the power play. Once the Blues killed off the penalty the Jacks took another penalty with 13:31 left in the game. While on the PP the Blues got the puck set up in the Jacks zone and were moving it around well, Tyler White had the puck by the boards and started cutting in across the top of the circle where he let a shot go and Keith "Bubba" Lazarczyk was able to tip it past Pelkey for his second on the night. The Blues were now in complete control of this game with a 5-0 lead; however the Jacks didn"t give up. They kept playing until the final whistle and it paid off as they broke the shut out at 6:56 when new comer Will Olmstead followed his shot and put in his own rebound to make the score 5-1. The Blues added on more late goal with 1:20 left in the game from TJ Moran to make the final score 6-1 Blues. The Blues are going to be a serious contender if they show up each week playing like this. The Jacks are very solid as well and if they can stay out of the penalty box they are much different team.
