Gamblers Flex Muscles in 8-4 Win Over Dead River

Due to an impending ice storm and a general sissification of the Gamblers & Dead River teams...there was a major roster issue for both squads tonight. The Gamblers were missing two of their big three(Willy Meyer & Matty Marrazzo) and only had 6 skaters which meant that they only had one sub on the bench.

Dead River had the same issue, but were able to pull in 3 subs(Reid Hersey, Dillon Pierce & Gary Laperle) to help round out their roster to two full lines and 2 sets of defense. Funny how either the Gamblers didn't ask for assistance and/or nobody wanted to play for the Gamblers.

Leading the way for the Gamblers was Ryan "Thing 2" LaCroix who scored goals #18 through #22 of the year...yes, he scored five goals today and was ridiculously nasty. Those goals propelled LaCroix from 8th in league scoring to 3rd. The Gambler's Dan "The Danimal" Ammel also had a pretty spectacular night with a hat trick and two helpers. Thing 2's brother, Topo "Thing 1" LaCroix had three assists on the day and those three took home, respectively, the three stars of the game and the aforementioned two were POW nominees.

Dead River did muster some offense, but unfortunately it was spurred by their alternates as Gary "The Pearl Necklace" Laperle had a pair of goals and Dillon "Fierce" Pierce had another. The only goal scored by a native Dead Riverian was Mathew Scott late in the first period. Defenseman Dan "Super Chunk" Charette lumbered his massive body around the ice and added a pair of assists.

It was a fairly clean game and was surprisingly close, at least on the scoreboard, as Dead River battled the Gamblers to a 3-3 tie halfway through the game. LaCroix fueled the Gamblers with a hat trick in the first period. That feeling of elation ended pretty quickly as Ammel scored three consecutive goals late in the second and early into the third period, putting the game out of reach.

The Gambler's Ryan Van Schoik registered his league leading 10th win of the season on 31 saves while Matty "The Eagle" Crowson lowed his GAA with 8 goals on 42 saves, but was left out to dry, yet again, on many occassions.
