Brewers Jump Ahead 3-0 in first, lose 5-3 to Gamblers.

The powerhouse Gamblers(17-1-2) faced off against the inconsistent Brewers(10-10-0) tonight, in what ended up being a solid game. The Gambler's Greg "First Period" Feiden proved once again that he is NOT a first period goaltender. After letting up 3 goals on the first 3 shots last week in a 10-3 win over Dead River, Feiden almost repeated that feat by letting in 3 of the first 5 shots he faced against a hungry Brewer's squad.

All 3 of the Brewer's goals came in the first 5 minutes of play. A pair coming off of the stick of Billy "The Kid" Fletcher, the other coming from Nick "The Stick" Bayley. Fletcher opened the scoring just 1:49 into the game after firing a rebound past Feiden off of a Brock "Lesnar" Barton shot. Bayley took it hard from his best buddy Christian "The Pass" Isaac before slipping one past Feiden for the quick 2-0 lead at 11:16 followed by a converted turnover by Fletcher at 10:26. The Brewers were motoring, taking advantage of turnovers, sloppy plays & the slow start from the 'Blers, but we all knew that wasn't going to last. The UVHL's leading point producer got the 'Blers back on track at 7:10 from Marc "The Narc" Gattie. Gattie, a stellar blueliner, contributed 3 assists in this one as well as playing some solid defense to earn a Player of the Week Nomination. The tides definitely changed after that initial goal by the Gamblers, and they worked themselves out of their funk.

The 'Blers scored a pair in the 2nd period behind Reuben "The Kitten" Lyons & Marrazzo's 2nd goal of the night. Both were assisted by Gattie with Allison "The Hook" Malcolm & Mike "Big Harry" Harrington chipping in with some nice dishes as well. Both goals also came on the powerplay, with Garren "Ogie Ogelthorp" Poirier in the box for the first goal & Big Brock Barton in the sin bin for the second goal.

The Gamblers continued to press into the 3rd period with a pair of goals from Willy "Mighty Mouse" Meyers. Marrazzo chipped in assists on both goals as well as Harrington with his second assist of the night, and Danny "The Animal" Ammel getting the other helper. Meyer's 2nd goal of the game, and the last of the contest, was DISGUSTING and started with him moving the puck through the neutral zone to Ammel, who hit Marrazzo busting down the near boards. Marrazzo in turn hit Meyer crashing the net to put the game out of reach, 5-3.

The Gamblers started off slowly tonight, but came to form late in the first period and dominated the remainder of the game. Matty Marrazzo continues to prove that he is the most dynamic player in the UVHL this season. He has stepped out from behind the shadow of Meyer and proven that he can also carry a team. Feiden SUCKS in the first period, but is unbeatable as he settles in. I know that the scoresheet says Bayley scored a goal, but did he even show up? Is Bartline still a virgin? I think so.

Nice game from the G-Men.
