Gamblers Get Back To Form.....Spank Kings 7-2.

It was the late game of the 15th week in the UVHL when the league leading Gamblers(9-4-1) took on the inconsistent Storm Kings(7-5-2). It was a crucial game for the Gamblers since they had lost the previous two games & their captain Willy "Weeble Wobble" Meyer would have a mental breakdown after a 3rd loss. The Gamblers who lost their first 3 games followed up with 9 quick wins before the last two devastating losses.

The Kingers are a rag-tag team as of late, with no consistency in their line-up and some issues in the locker room. They've dropped 2 of their last 3, including a 1-0 forfeit for a no-show.

Both teams brought short benches tonight, and it definitely hurt the Storm Kings who looked tired early on. The Gamblers put together a solid game, from start to finish, using their speed as a primary weapon quickly followed by some grit to match the intensity of the Kingers. It was a game that was a bit testy at times as two very competitive & talented teams butted heads all night. The Gamblers were powered by defenseman EXTRAORDINAIRE, Kevin "The Guillotine" Guilbault who netted 3 goals & added an assist while solidifying the G-Men defensive corp. Chipping in were Dan "The Animal" Ammel with 1 goals & 2 assist, Willy "Wobble" Meyer with 1 goal & 3 assists and Tyson "Chicken Thighs" Seely with a goal & assist. Oh and Jason Young "Blood" added his signature high slapshot goal that was about as predictable as a one-legged man in an ass kicking competition.

The first 9 minutes was back and forth hockey as both teams didn't want to make the first mistake.....but the Gamblers finally broke through with Guilbault's first of three with 5:43 to play in the first. "It was a great pass from Dan-O, Frenchy kind of left a soft little rebound that I was able to kind of tuck in from behind the net." was how Guilbault recalled the events that broke the 0-0 tie. "The Danimal" made it 2-0 under a minute later on a pass from Scotty "Fubar" Fraser, his first assist of this decade......and probably his last. The Storm Kings weren't about to lay down like good dogs, and added a shorthanded goal with 16 seconds to go when "Tricky" Ricky Hughes fed Patty "Cakes" Turcotte all alone in front of the net.

END OF THE FIRST:
Gamblers 2, Storm Kings 1

Meyer & Guilbault traded assists to each other in the first as they tallied goals at 13:30 & 10:08 of the second period. The first came as Guilbault entered the Storm Kings zone, dipsy-doed, followed by a looky-here and a oopsy-daisy before finding Meyer streaking to the net. Meyer returned the favor less than 3 minutes later when Meyer flew down the near boards, sucking 3 Storm Kings with him to the corner before dishing A PERFECT pass to Guilbault in the slot, Gilly cut to his back hand across the slot and fired a shovel shot past a bewildered Frenchy.

END OF THE SECOND:
Gamblers 4, Storm Kings 1

The third period was very interesting as the Storm Kings peppered Condon with 19 shots to 10 for the Gamblers. Most of those shots came the 3 powerplays the Kingers had with Marty "Galdalf The Grey" White scoring a powerplay goal with 11:13 to play. The Gamblers did go up 5-1 just 30 second into the period when Tyson Seeley scored an unassisted goal. I missed the play, but I know Frenchy took a slashing penalty at 14:30, most likely after the play, which was most likely the result of giving the puck away to Seeley. Frenchy has a bit of an anger management problem that he is unwilling to admit. The Gamblers tallied their only power play goal of the night 1:03 later when Gilly finished his hat trick from Meyer to make it 6-1 before White's power play goal. The Gamblers finished the scoring on the night with 5:10 to go with a Jason "Vorhees" Young slapper from "Rolls" Royce Lawrence & Tyson "Chicken Breast" Seely "Mattress".
