Gamblers versus Brewers

The Ramblin' Gamblin' Gamblers of Enfield continued their winning ways with another impressive win over a solid Brewers squad. With Johnny "Temper Tantrum" Turner filling in for the ambitious J-Red Condon who got called up to the big leagues with a 1 period contract to the Pittsburgh Pillow-Biters of the B.J.H.L. Turner, playing in his 3rd game of the night, was not spectacular, but the Brewer's Petey "Bullet" Bartline was just short of horrific as he let in 8 of 38 shots on goal.

The top lines on both teams were on fire. For the Gamblers; Willy "Weeble" Meyer, Danny "Lungs" Ammel & Matty "The Milk Man" Marrazzo contributed for 6 goals & 12 points. Also adding to the mix for the Gambler's was Joey "You Got The Right Stuff" McIntyre(1g, 1a), Bruce "The Goose" Hathorn(2a) & Tyson "Chicken Nuggets" Seeley(2a).

The Brewers top line of Billy "the kid" Fletcher, Brock "Lesnar" Barton & Joey "Roid Rage" Lyle also contributed 6 goals & added 5 assists. Chris "Turtle" Johnson had 3 helpers & defensive stud Garren Poirier "Potty" had a goal & an assist for the Brew Crew.

The Brewers came out flying and looked like they could mount an unsurmountable lead as they netted 2 goals in under a minute from Fletch & Barton. Things weren't looking good for the Gamblers until The Milkman delivered a hot puck sundae on the power play with 6:19 to play followed by the next 3 goals all for the Gamblers. "Weeble Wobble" Meyer tied the game up at 4:31 from Danny Ammel & The Milk Man followed by a late period goal when Joey "You Go The Right Stuff" McIntyre finished off a Bruce "The Goose" Hathorn feed with 45 seconds to play in the 1st.

END OF THE FIRST: Gamblers 3, Brewers 2
SAVES: Turner(GMB) 8, Bartline(BRW)

Meyer added his 2nd of the game 4 minutes into the 3rd period from his favorite Italian, Matty Marrazzo to put the Gamblers up 4-2. The Brew Crew battled back with a pair of their own just 19 seconds later. The first came off of the stick of Fletcher from Joey "Roid Rage" Lyle. Lyle tied the game up just over a minute later from Chris "Wicked Game" Isaac and Garren "The Walking Stick" Poirier. The teeter totter tottered back towards the Gamblers as they again took the lead when Jason Young "Blood" beat Bartline with an unorthodox slap shot from the hashmarks. The Brewers quickly added another two goals only 20 seconds apart at 7:46 & 7:26. The first came from Poirier who probably scored with one of those happy gilmore slapshots that he loves to take. The second came from double "B", Brock Barton for the go-ahead goal. Billy Fletcher scored the 3rd straight goal for the Brewers, unassisted and with only 1:51 to play and put the Brew Crew up 7-5. The Gamblers top line came threw yet again 8 seconds later and on the ensuing faceoff as Meyer broke through the entire Brewers team and fed Marrazzo to bring his team back within 1 goal.

END OF THE SECOND: Gamblers 6, Brewers 7
SAVES: Turner(GMB) 16, Bartline(BRE) 23

The 3rd period was a fast paced, action packed hockey event. The close game brought out the worst in both teams as the intensity started to boil over the pot and the Brewer's Joey Lyle started puffing his chest out and challenging everyone to a fight. Not necessary Joey, lay off the 'roids bud. The Gamblers top line scored the only two goals of the period both by Meyer on assists from Ammel & Marrazzo. The first coming with 9:46 to play and the second with 6:29 to go. The Brewers seemed to loose their steam after the go-ahead goal from the Gamblers. So much that it never donned on them to pull their goaltender until there was about 25 seconds remaining in the game, but it just wasn't enough time to get something going.

END OF REGULATION: Gamblers 8, Brewers 7
