Brewers show true colors in 12-3 blowout win over B

In the first game of the evening, the struggling Brewers(7-7-2) hosted the struggling Bruins(5-11-0) in what was sure to be one hell of a game. The Bruins, playing without their captain Greg "Dirty Dog" Hadley had claimed BJ "Scissor Kick" Premore off of waivers to fill the gaping hole left between the pipes for the remainder of the season.

The Brewers opened up the game with what looked like a power play as the Bruins couldn't get the puck away from the line of Nick "The Stick" Bayley, Christian "Bulldozer" Isaac, Alfonse "Fonz" Sorrentino, Dave "Mulligan" Mullins & Hank "The Tank" Bouchard. The Brewers were able to get their first shot of the period just a minute and a half in when a pass glanced off the stick of "The Fonz" and into center ice where Matty "Chicken Legs" Marrazzo picked it up flying down the near boards. Marrazzo tried the "Lemieux" on Petey "Cherry Popper" Bartline, but to no avail. The Brewers retorted just 30 seconds later when Bayley fed a backhander through the crease to Isaac who roofed it over a downed Premore.

Just over a minute later, Christian Isaac picked up a loose puck at the top of the near circle, skated to the faceoff dot and then cut back on Stevie "Geebies" Geiger into the slot and tried beating Premore with a move to the far post but was stuffed on the backhand attempt along the ice. Nick Bayley followed the play into the crease and jammed home the rebound to put the Brewers up 2-0. Bayley got his 2nd of the night and 26th of the season to put the Brew Crew up 3-0 at 7:53 when he tipped a perfect shot / pass, 5-HOLIO, from Brian "Nasty Old Man" Walsh at the point.

The Brewers were absolutely flying at this point and looking more like the team they were at the beginning of the season. Their puck control was a thing of beauty as they used every square inch of ice surface to maintain control. Garren "The Lanky Lurker" Poirier made it 5-0 at 5:58 when he picked up an indirect pass at center ice off the far boards from the CEO, Brian Walsh. Poirier walked in and let a blast go from the far faceoff dots, beating Premore just inside the near post.

Bayley put the Brewers up 5-0 at 4:23 on a Bayley, Isaac & Johnson 3 on 1. Isaac walked into the zone and made a great play cutting to the net and taking the defenseman and netminder with him before leaving a perfect drop pass at the top of the crease for Bayley to pick up and throw a nice easy shot up and over a laid out Premore. The Brewers kept piling the the pressure on and notched a 6-0 lead exactly one minute later on a slap shot from the point by Mullins, far side along the ice. Surprisingly, that was Mullins first of the year.....or not so surprisingly as he tends to miss the net high and hard at least 5 times a game. His new nickname is Davey "Go high & hard or go home" Mullins.

The Bruins finally broke through on the giant wall of virginity called BARTLINE, when Matty Marrazzo lit the lamp with 2:10 remaining in the first when he knocked home a rebound from a Scotty "Goon Squad" Fraser blast from the point to cut the deficit to only 5 goals. The remainder of the period was a wash, which is exactly what the bruins wanted to do, wash from their memories the absolute ASS KICKING they had just endured.......but things weren't about to get any better.

END OF THE FIRST: Bruins 1, Brewers 6
SAVES: Premore(Bruins) 14, Bartline(Brewers) 7

The second period started of a little bit slow as neither team seemed to be able to get a good flow to their games, although both netminders were called upon to make some excellent saves early on. The Bruins did strike first in the 2nd period when Donnie "Pencil Pusher" Powers jammed in a rebound off of a Geiger slap shot from the point. I'd say that it was a good goal, but Gieger's slap shot looked like melting butter coming down the slot, and Bartline left a giant present right in the slot for Powers.

The Bruins early successes were short lived as the Brewers tallied a shorty at 6:20 when Bayley gathered in a breakaway pass from Mullins at center ice and was being HUNTED down by the Bruin's Fraser at the hash marks. Bayley faked to the far post, cut to the near and threw the puck back through the 5-hole on Premore.

Chris Johnson made it 8-2 as he cut down the near boards towards the net, faked to has back hand, but made a quick move back to his forehand at the top of the crease and threw it up over the pad of Premore. It was a great move at the last second to sell Premore that he was going far post. Two and a half minutes later, Isaac made a great individual play at 3:15 as he picked up a turnover at the Bruins blue line, turned a defenseman inside out and then turned Premore inside out before throwing it in along the ice to put the Brewers up a sweet 9-2.

Nick Bayley put the Brewers up a clean 10-2 at 1:25, with his 5th goal of the night and 29th of the season with a quick wrist shot 5-HOLIO on Premore as he was streaking down the far boards.

END OF THE SECOND: Bruins 2, Nordiques 10
SAVES: Premore(Bruins) 25, Bartline(Brewers) 17

The Brewers continued their domination early in the 3rd period as Isaac got his 3rd of the night and 19th of the season at 12:46 with a quick wrister fom the slot, no chance for Premore. I was told that the goal may have been redemption for the vicious slash, last time up the ice from recent call-up Alex Moore. That goal made it a lofty 11-3, turning the Bruins squad to frustration and some additional chippiness.

The Bruins did get another on a Tyson Sealy goal with 10:48 remaining on assists from McGee & Marrazzo before The "Lanky Lurker" Garren Poirier closed out the night with his 6yh on the year to put the Brewers up 12-3. Overall it was a disastrous game for the Bruins. Premore didn't have an answer for Bayley who looked rejuvenated after his team publicly flogged him in front of Long Trail Brewery. Isaac was a force again as well, but the high point of the night would be the defensive pairing of Mullins & Walsh who combined for 6 points and started every play with exceptional breakout passes from within their zone.

Bartline was good enough for the win, being called upon to make 8 or 9 HUGE saves. He looked like the netminder from the beginning of the season.
