Tuckies Look to Dominate Nordiques Again

Back in early November the Tuckies put a beat down of epic proportions on the Nordiques in a 9-0 lashing. It looked like a team of big brothers skating around their much younger and less talented little brothers.

Are the Nordiques really that bad? Yes, at times they are, but they have enough talent to compete in every game. It all depends on which Nordiques team shows up. Is Tuck really that good? Yes, they are deep and backed by the best netminder in the Upper Valley which goes a long way for a team's confidence with the puck.

Tuck leads the UVHL with 54 goals scored in just 7 games while only allowing 14. That's a 40 Goal Differential. The only team to give them a problem were the Gamblers in a great 5-4 loss, but they rebutted that with a 9-3 thrashing 2 weeks later. I wonderful thing to see since the Gamblers have been running up scores on other teams for years.

Tuck has 3 of the top 4 point scorers this season with Jed "Old" McDonald(12-9-21) leading the league in points & goals followed by Brandon "The Harry One" Harrington(11-7-18) in second and Eric "The Rat" Rautiola(7-8-15) in 4th.

The Nordiques only have Jordy "McBreakaway" McGee in the top 10 with 13 points.

This should be a blowout again seeing as the Nordiques were outplayed 5-3 by the Whalers last week while looking lethargic and unenthusiastic. Tuck wins it, 7-1.

Tuck Dominates Nords Again - 8-2

Tonight's result wasn't quite as bad as the 9-0 ass-whooping that Tuck put on the Nordiques back in November. Although tonight, the Nordiques did tend to carry play at times unlike the previous contest where Tuck played keep away from their counterparts as if they were toying with them.

The 2-0 Tuck lead after one period isn't telling about how close the period actually was as the shots on goal were 8 apiece. Brandon "The Harry One" Harrington scored the opening goal just 4:59 in on a 60 foot snapper that caught the Nord's goaltender Johnny "Zen Master" Turner napping. Peter Mellencamp finished a Harrington pass with 3:25 to play in the first to put Tuck up 2-0 and that's how the period ended.

The Nordiques continued to play well into the second period but took a drastic turn with 5:17 left when defensive partners Kelly "The Mouth" Park and Shawn "McNoDefense" McDermott each were whistled for a penalty on the same play. The double call put Tuck on a 2 minute 5 on 3 power play...and they made the Nordiques pay with a pair of power-play goals. Spencer "Ricky" Vaughn jammed home a Mark "Hightower" Devooght point shot for the first goal and 31 seconds later Mike Nowak got his first of the night from John Dawson. Nowak got his second of the night on an unassisted goal and 1:25 to play in the second to put Tuck up 5-0 and put the game way out of reach.

The Nordiques did manage to get on the board with 25 seconds left when "Fierce" Pierce Mayhew set up Jordy "McBreakaway" McGee, but that glee was short lived as a Turner blunder with 7 seconds left allowed Tuck to score with just 3 seconds left. On the play, Turner came out to play the puck but changed his mind at the last second and tried to cover it only to see it poked away by Spencer Vaughn and pushed to Dawson all alone in the crease. ugly play, 6-1 Tuck.

The rest of the game went kind of like that for the Noridques as the ice started to tip towards the Nordiques end and Tuck dominated the 2nd half of the game.

In the end, the result was pretty much what you'd expect from the power-house Tuckies and the identity-less Nordiques.

Eric "The Rat" Rautiola and Devooght both added goals in the third and McGee & Mayhew connected again.
