Nordiques Survive

The Nordiques(9-8-0) took on the second placed Brewers(11-5-1) in tonight's early game. The Brewers were favored by a goal after taking the last two games of the season series 7-4 and 4-1.

The Nords welcomed back Jordy "McChicken Wing" McGee after separating his shoulder two months ago against their opponent tonight. McGee was supporting a giant pair of shiny shoulder pads, but they didn't slow him down as he picked up where he left off with a goal, two assists and a first star of the night.

The Nordiques came out flying, playing with some heart and jumping out to a 4-0 lead early in the second period. The Brewers finally woke up in the second and leveled the playing surface before ruining Johnny " Temper Tantrum" Turner's shutout bid with 41 seconds to go in the second on a goal from Keith "Bubbles" Lazarczyk.

Chris "Turtle" Johnson made it 4-2 in the third period only to be followed by the Nordique's Tommy "Minister of Defense" Dakai with the eventual game winner with 8:09 to play. Up by three goals, the Nordiques made the mistake of sitting back and hanging on for the win against an offensively aggressive Brewers squad. The Brewers stepped on the gas and took control of the game.

Garren "teed Penalty" Poirier cut across the crease and jammed a goal home far side on Turner to with just 2:40 to play, and Jason Mikola finished a feed from Johnson with 68 seconds left to cut the lead to one goal. The Nordiques SURVIVED the late push from the Brewers and secured the win and scoring more than 4 goals for the first time in 9 games.

The Brewers woke up and were the better team in the second half, but just didn't have enough time.
