Whalers Score Early & Often for 11-7 Win Over Tuck.

The Whalers improved to 6-7-1 on the season while sending Tuck to double digits in losses (4-10-0). A breakout performance from Dillan Pierce saw him compile a hat trick and four helpers for seven points on the night. Pierce has formed a solid connection with linemate Joe Gaudet who also had three goals and added an assist to his totals.

Tuck had a nice night offensively, probably at the cost of their defensive play, tallying seven goals. Center Brandon Harrington and defenseman Scott "Wrecking Ball" Howard both had a pair of goals and an assist. They notched the first goal of the game just over 90 seconds in on a Howard pass to Nate "The Great" Walsh. The Whale powered back with a pair of goals in the middle of the period from Nick "The Stick" Hall and Gaudet followed by a Tuck goal from Sam Pond. Tied at two this looks like a close game but the Whalers had the better of the chances and were starting to accumulate shots on net. Pierce and Gaudet closed out the period with goals just 23 seconds apart and the route was under way.

END OF THE FIRST: Whalers 4, Tuck 2

The Whalers doubled up Tuck again in the second period from four different scorers; Jason "Bling" Gramling, Gary "The Pearl Necklace" LaPerle, Pierce and Jay "Zamboni" Zanleoni. Both of Tuck's goals came off the stick of Harrington and the Whale headed to the third with a comfortable 8-4 lead.

END OF THE SECOND: Whalers 8, Tuck 4

The only three penalties in the game came in the third as the Tuckies started running out of gas. Robert E. Lee Taylor the 4th took a pair and "The Wrecking Ball" Howard took the other. Howard played like an animal in the third period, taking the penalty but also scoring both of his goals for Tuck as he tried to get his team back in the game. That effort wasn't enough as the Whalers matched the Tuckies effort with three goals in the period off the sticks of Gaudet, Peirce & Gramling.

END OF REGULATION: Whalers 11, Tuck 7

In the end the Whalers outshot the Tuckies 49 to 30. This wasn't a goaltenders duel as the Whaler's Kenny "The Stache" Lallier walked out of the rink with a heart breaking .767 save percentage and Tuck's Benny "The Tower of" Dower wasn't much better with .776 save percentage. It was a free flowing offensive showdown and the Whalers were the deeper team.
