Tuck Looks to Harpoon the Whalers
ODDS: | Tuck by 4 Goals |
OVER/UNDER: | 10 goals |
The Tuckies & Whalers are both coming off of losses. Tuck got overpowered by the Brewers 6-3, running into a hot goaltender on the way. The Whalers...didn't really show up in a ridiculous 13-0 loss to the Gamblers. Probably the worst hockey I have ever seen any team play.
Kenny "The Mangled Mustache" Lallier looks to straighten things out this week. In order to do so, he's going to need to communicate with the team that is front of him. There seems to be a bit of confusion as to defensive zone coverage in the Whaler's pond.
Tuck beat the Whalers 5-2 on November 9th, and look to repeat their earlier success. Missing a solid portion of their regular team, Tuck has relied on a short bench, a 3rd string goalie and some "B" leaguers to stay competitive.
Tuck should take this game handily, 7-3 or 8-4.
Tuckies Hold On Against Whalers: 5-4
The Tuck Turduckes(7-1-0) hosted the struggling Whalers (1-6-2) in what turned out to be an exceptional game. Tuck was without a large portion of their team, due to winter break, but were still able to jump out to a 5-1 lead with their 3rd string goaltender in net. Benjamin "The Tower" Dower has put up respectable numbers for Tuck while Dan yacey & Steve Kenning have been out of town, and was strong in this one as well.
Chris "The New" Johnson had a career night for Tuck as he scored points on all 5 of Tuck's goals. Johnson was everywhere, all 3 zones, on the bench, in the penalty box...and in the Whaler's heads. The Defenseman even started the scoring in this game after completing a backdoor pass from Jordan "Barnacle" Barnett at 10:15.
The Remainder of the first period was conservative, as neither team wanted to make a mistake. The Whalers killed off a Zach "Whaler Attack" Aher Body Checking penalty and Tuck had to kill off their own Chris Johnson Tripping call late in the period.
END OF THE FIRST: Tuck 1, Whalers 0
Things started to open up in the second period as both teams felt more comfortable. Johnson had a helper on an Andrew "Hellboy" Helming missile that went off the crossbar and in, and had the Whaler's goaltender Kenny "The Mustache" Lallier ducking to get out of the way.
The Whalers followed up with a Chris "Google" Gogan goal at 5:02, only to fall apart in the last two minutes and allow 2 Tuck goals. Parker "Lewis" Lytle scored at 1:42 from Helming and whoelse, Chris Johnson quickly followed by a Halsey "Turn Your Head And..." Coughlin goal at 1:14. Coughlin made a nice place as he took a pass from Johnson behind the net, curled out front and let a twisted-wrister fly top shelf on Lallier.
END OF THE SECOND: Tuck 4, Whalers 1
Johnson made it 5-1 from Lytle with 11:16 to play, and it looked as though Tuck was ready to check out and hit the bar. Their attitude came back to bite them in the ass as the Whalers scored 3 goals in 69 seconds starting at 4:01. Scotty Shaw scored the first goal as he crashed the net and took a backdoor pass from Cody Vose. Shaw jammed home a rebound just 10 seconds later to cut the lead to 5-3 before Jay "The Zamboni" Zanleoni fired a rocket through a screen with 2:52 to play. The Whalers were all over Tuck in the final minutes, but couldn't make the full comeback. Dower stood tall and Tuck escaped with the win.
END OF REGULATION: Tuck 5, Whalers 4
The Whalers showed some character in the last frame. Tuck is still a power house, despite missing a large portion of their roster. Johnson has proven to be an elite player in the UVHL, playing both solid defense and contributing offensively.
