Lumberjacks down Blues with shootout win.

SHOOTOUTS ARE FUN!  Especially when you have two highly powered offenses like the Lumberjacks & Blues going head to Head!  This wasn't a goaltending duel by any means, as both goalies posted a sub .800 save percentage on the night, with the Jack's Ryan "Little" Libby making 17 saves on 22 shots and the Blue's Jay "The Real Deal" Seals saving 19 of 24.  Terrence "TJ" Moran and Tyler White both had epic nights for the Blues with 5 and 4 points respectively.  While the Lumberjacks spread out their scoring a little more, using 4 goal scorers with Jay "The Zamboni" Zanleoni potting a pair of goals and a helper to boot.

The Lumberjacks, in their pattented baby-shit yellow uniforms took the home bench to our right, while the Labatt Blues in their boring as shit white uniforms were to our left.

Things didn't look good for the Jacks as the Blues came out flying in the first minute.  Tyler White took a forced turnover by TJ Moran into the high slot and beat Libby with a low and hard wrister just 23 seconds in.  Tthe Jacks finished the period strong with two goals in the last 1:04.  With Jason Mikula in the box for high sticking, Zanleoni played catch with Jordy "McGive-n-Go" McGee in the near corner before finding Zanleoni streaking to the net off the half wall for a quick one-time snapper short side on a devastated Jay Seals.

With 22 seconds left, an errant clear was picked off by defenseman Jake Robinson, who threw it down to McGee in the slot all alone.  McGee's patience and stamina paid off as he held on for 2 seconds(a record for him), waiting for Seals to commit to the poke check before throwing the puck over his blocker side.

The Lumberjacks heaed to the locker room after one period of play with a 2-1 lead, but in true Blues fashion, they came out flying again and scored AGAIN at exactly 23 seconds into the period to tie the game when TJ tipped a puck to White in the neutral zone, sending him in with Bart Moran 2v1.  White moved the puck quickly to the streaking Moran on his off wing.  Moran's quick deke to his forehand sent Libby into orbit, and Moran's quick move to the backhand found the empty net.  Game tied 2-2.  That goal set off a chain reaction of alternating goals.

Three minutes after Bart Moran's game tying goal Marc "The Narc" Gattie picked up a puck on the near boards, carried it below the goal line to Seals' right, did his best Eric Lindros power move to the front of the net on his forehand and beat Seals with a quick flip of the wrists 5-holio....the most glorious hole there is.  With 5:58 the Blues tied the game on a point shot by Ray "The Plague" Sprague that found Bart Moran far post.  Moran spun around and found the other Moran, TJ....his brother?  Uncle?  TJ does look pretty fucking old, he could be his dad...Grandfather?  I'm not really sure, but the young Moran found the old guy back post to tie the game.

With Trevor "The Bully" Billings in the box for interference on a Jay Zanleoni partial breakaway, the Lumberjacks moved the puck around like soft-handed power play specialists before Zaneloni collected his second PP goal on a gorgeous cross crease pass by Dillan Pierce and the second period ended with the Jacks up 4-3.

It took seven minutes for the Blues to tie the game on a nifty behind the back pass from the young Moran to the Old Moran.  The Old guy then walked in to the top of the circle and with Tyler White precisely timing a screen, Moran burried a shot inside the far post.  Libby never had a chance...well he would have if he wasn't 5'2" and 97 lbs, but you can't fight genetics.

Just over a minute later, Jake Robinson, fired a cross-ice pass through the neutral zone to a streaking "Thrillin" Dillan Pierce, who cut around his defender, across the crease to his backhand and deposited the black biscuit passed an outstretched Jay Seals....Lumberjacks regain the lead.  The blues continued to press, but their top...and apparently only line came through once again with 2:30 left to tie the game.  Zanleoni battled in the near corner with Old Moran, before pushing the puck to Young Moran on the half wall.  Young Moran took a quick look over his left shoulder, and realized that the Jacks had completely put too much faith in big Z to win the puck and had left White all alone in the slot.  Young Moran threw a backhand pass to White as he backed into the slot for a quick one-timer, blocker side against The Libster.  Game Tied.  Billings took a "can-openering" penalty with just over a minute left followed by a Old Guy Moran tripping call with 10 seconds left to make things interesting, but the Jacks couldn't this one went to a shootout!
