UPPER VALLEY HOCKEY LEAGUE

In the first game of the night we have the Whalers (6-0) taking on the Gamblers (3-2). The Whale is coming into tonight off a 4-3 win over the Jacks and the Gamblers are looking to regroup after a 6-2 beating from the Blues. The Whale took the first game of the series by the score of 4-3 and look for tonight be a similar score. The edge goes to the Whalers who has a hot goalie and the team has been playing some hardnose hockey, although the Gamblers should raise to the occasion look for the Whalers to win this one 3-2.

In the first game we had the undefeated Whalers hosting the Gamblers.  The game started out with the Gamblers jumping out to a 1-0 lead on a goal from Ryan LaCroix at the 10:41 mark.  The period would see no other scoring but both goalies were tested often, the Gamblers RVS finished the first period with 12 saves and the Whalers Tucker Garritty-Hanchett had 13 saves. 

In the second period the Gamblers would give the Whalers their first chance at a power play and they needed just 8 seconds to score on a goal from Chuck Gaede from the point to tie the game at 1-1 with 10:47 remaining in the period. The Gamblers would only need about two minutes to answer back as Ryan LaCroix would notch his second of the game and make the score 2-1 at 8:24. The Gamblers Matt Marrazzo would put the Gamblers up 3-1 with his first goal of the night at 2:26 mark.  However, 16 seconds later the Whalers Dan Fenton would make the score 3-2 with 2:10 remaining in the period.  The period would end with the Gamblers up 3-2 heading into the third.  The Gamblers RVS would finish the period with 10 saves and the Whalers Tucker GH would finish with 4 saves. 

The third period started out with the Gamblers Matt Marrazzo getting his second of the night and extending the Gamblers lead to 4-2 at 13:44. The Whalers would get within in a goal again, this time it was Kelly "hard shot" Park scoring, to make the score 4-3 Gamblers with 8:21 remaining in the game. The Whalers would get a late power play chance, but they couldn't get anything past the Gamblers RVS who made some timely saves to keep his squad in the game.  The Gamblers would go on to give the Whalers their first loss of the season and win the game 4-3.  RVS finished the night with 32 saves on 35 shots and Tucker GH would finish the night with 24 saves on 28 shots.
