In the second game on opening night we had Tuck hosting the Whalers. Tuck comes into tonight’s game as the 3-time defending Whalen Cup Champions, whereas the Whalers are coming off an 0-14 season.

In the opening period with a lot of new faces on both sides the game gets started with the Whalers applying pressure early, their pressure would pay off at 10:14 as newcomer Brian Marsh would put his team up 1-0.  After giving up a goal in the first five minutes Tuck woke up and starting to pick up their play testing out the new Whalers netminder Tucker Garrity-Hanchett. After one period of play the Whalers would be up 1-0 as Tucker would stop all eight shots that he faced in the first period.  Tucks Steve Hruby would stop four shots after giving up an early goal.

In the second period both teams would trade early power play chances but neither team could cash in on the chance.  The score would remain 1-0 until 5:13 left in the period when #7 from Tuck would tie the game up at 1-1. The period would end with the score tied 1-1 as Tucker would end with 12 saves and Hruby would end with 10 saves.

In the third period the Whalers were hungry to get the lead while Tuck was struggling to gel as team with all the new faces this year.  The Whalers Russ Teller would put his team up 2-1 on a power play goal at 11:27.   The Whalers would keep their foot on the gas and go up 3-1 on a goal from Dan Fenton with 9:14 remaining.   The Whalers would hang on to winning their first game in over a year on a solid team win from goaltending out.   The Whalers Tucker would end the night with 27 saves while Tucks Hruby would finish with 24 saves.
